1st drawing for Matt Bird's History of ID class

Matt Bird wants us to submit drawings that draw on the last class's lecture. He broadly covered - or rather questioned - the starting point of the field of Industrial Design. While no concrete start point was established, he did walk us through several examples of products that, while traditionally viewed as craft, could very well be considered designed objects.

He also mentioned Denis Diderot, who decided to take on all of human history in his Encyclopedie. Not one to shy away from a challenge, Diderot sought to document the entirety of human accomplishment, especially in terms of manufacturing. His Encyclopedie included beautiful etchings of industrial processes and tools, and I found myself inspired not only by his sheer ambition, but also by those beautiful prints. Here is my much looser take on his project.
